More Grip: Extra layers of carbon fiber add over 4 lb of additional grip than our standard GORILLA Cage, making the GORILLA XT, the perfect cage choice when seeking the ultimate in bottle retention. Rough roads? This cage can handle them. More Friction: We added more carbon fiber layers into the spring-loaded arms, compressing the bottle and ultimately increasing the friction between cage and bottle. More Strength: We paid special attention to the top hook and the bottle shelf, increasing the cage thickness and durability in these key locations. This allows you to carry heavy bottles on rougher roads.

Accessibility Even though we significantly increased the grip rating, our unique design was able to retain the same ease of use. A flared cage opening assists blind bottle access when you need to be focused on the road ahead. Arched cage arms positioned to grip mid-bottle help retain the bottle throughout your ride. A narrow center opening maximizes the amount of contact around the bottle and helps encourage vertical bottle removal, matching the natural movement of your arm. Fine tune your cage positioning with long mounting slots.

The GORILLA XT features the same high-tech shape and design of our standard GORILLA Cage proving it excels at Behind-the-Saddle mounting. The GORILLA XT also excels as an In-the-Frame cage, and is a great choice for those items that you only need occasional access to, such as our MINI POD and GEAR BOX.

Need even more grip? Pair our cages with our COOL SHOT or AQUA SHOT bottles and gain an additional 2-3 lb, of grip! Our bottles are designed to securely lock into XLAB cages. Our COOL SHOT bottle is the perfect complement to all of our cages. Insulated, light-reflective, and a secure sealing high flow nozzle make it a must-have on your daily rides & races. Our AQUA SHOT bottle is designed with racing in mind. Fluid level graduations printed on the side, self-sealing nozzle, and quick squeeze and drink action will have you turning to it on race day.

By far the highest gripping cage available on the market today. All of our advanced cage technology is packaged into this 49 grams masterpiece. Precision-selected, high quality carbon fibers are placed in the optimum locations, boosting the grip force to 14 lb.

Compatibility

One of the most important facts in bottle retention is the interface between cage and bottle.

To ensure the best possible fit with the GORILLA XT Cage, use a bottle that has a consistent groove all the way around its neck. It should be uniform and fit tightly against the GORILLA XT‘s top retaining hook. The bottle surface should be smooth without raised texture. For best results, use our auto-nozzle AQUA SHOT or our insulated COOL SHOT bottles.

Installation

Proper installation of the cage will provide you with years of trouble free use and ensure maximum performance.

Always use the proper tools to install your cages.
All XLAB carbon cages should be installed with a stainless steel washer inserted under the bolt head.
Bolts should be properly torqued. XLAB carbon cages should be tightened to 3.4 Nm (30-in-lb) of torque.
When installing onto any XLAB rear hydration system, the cage should be installed with the hardware provided with that system.

Care

As with all cycling accessories, our cages require regular care.

Leaving your bottle inserted in the cage for long periods of time can potentially deform and/or damage your bottle. Both of which can compromise bottle retention. We always recommend that you remove your bottles from their cages when not in use.
Friction between the cage and bottle is an important component in bottle retention. Residue build up, dirt, impact damage, and scaring can all effect how well your cage works. As with any cycling accessory, our cages should be regularly checked for damage and cleaned.
